The College of Education at Oregon State University continues its history of preparing workforce education specialists to lead education and training programs in the workplace, the community, and community colleges.
The Adult Education Cohort Master's Degree Program
There are two areas of emphasis in this program, depending on one's current or aspiring work setting. This often establishes the context within which you will focus your studies. Some students enjoy working within both areas of emphasis. The Master's Degree in Adult Education will prepare you to work either
- as an organization development and training specialist in business, industry, government, community agencies, and community college programs that provide training services to their own or other organizations. . . or
- as a instructional specialist and master teacher/trainer in basic skills (including English as a second language), work-related and/or content-based instruction for a diverse group of adult learners in business, community, and community college settings.
Program Design
This program is designed for the working professional, who often finds it difficult to attend weekly classes. Our classes are held on weekends, generally the first weekend of each month, on Friday afternoons and evenings and Saturdays, and on the campus of the Wilsonville Training Center (Clackamas Community College), Wilsonville, Oregon. Interim assignments between monthly weekends are supported by mentoring and coaching of instructional staff and fellow peers via the internet. The weekend sessions are highly interactive, engaging, and focus on application of skills that can be applied immediately to one's workplace setting.
