Q: When does the Theatre Arts Department host its annual Open House?
A: All current and potential OSU students are welcome to attend our annual Open House which will take place on the Monday of the second week of fall term classes. You will be able meet and speak with the Theatre Arts faculty, tour the theatres, and discuss course offerings.
Q: Who can be involved in the University Theatre?
A: The University Theatre serves the entire OSU and Corvallis community. Anyone can audition for shows, work on crews, and participate in the many facets of production work. Theatre classes are open to all registered OSU students. One does not have to be a theatre major to be a part of the University Theatre.
Q: How do I get information about University Theatre happenings and Events?
A: This web-page is an excellent resource; it is updated periodically throughout the year. You can also arrange to receive our department newsletter either through the purchase of season tickets or by contacting our office manager at the University Theatre office at 541-737-2853. We can also provide the most up-to-date scoop on current events in Withycombe, so feel free to call.
Q: How do I contact University Theatre faculty?
A: Go to the faculty section of this website; phone numbers and e-mail addresses are listed for each faculty member. Or stop by Withycombe Hall to check out office hours and/or make an appointment.
Q: What types of productions does the University Theatre present?
A: The University Theatre is predominantly an educational institution, committed to providing a wide range of theatrical experiences for OSU students and the Corvallis community. Productions range from the classics to the contemporary, musicals to comedy and drama. The University Theatre seeks to produce at least one show in all major periods and styles of drama over any five year period.
Q: How do I purchase tickets?
A: Contact our box office at 541-737-2784 beginning on Monday of the week a show opens to reserve tickets for that particular show. Or contact our office manager to arrange for season tickets (541-737-2853). Tickets may be paid for in cash or by check; we do not accept credit cards.
Q: Who do I contact about working on a particular show?
A: The director of that show is a good place to start. They can put you in touch with the appropriate designer, manager, etc. to get things rolling. Richard George serves as the Technical Director for almost all University shows and is also a good person to contact about working backstage.
